Ireland

Ambiana at the castle with Aunti Susanna and Patti

My Gals had a fun week without me in Ireland while I spent a weekend in Boston with Gaelen walking the Freedom Trail, 4 miles plus 291 steps up the Bumker Hill Monument. I brought his bike to Boston as well and he rode round the Esplanade as I ran. Needless to say he slept well at night.

The Kids in Dublin

We arrived in Dublin at 6am and met the girls at the train station at 10am and made our way through Dublin to a park to meet up with my Uncle Tony and his kids and grandkids who live in Dublin. Ben, Susanna, Pattie, Katie, Bob, Maya, and my mom and dad were also there.  After the picnic I had to be fitted for my suit and left the group and ended up meeting Susanna and my Mom on O’Connell St in Downtown Dublin and stayed out with them to celebrate with Chuck, Russ, Becky,  Patti, and Susanna at a local Pub. Heading back to the rental apartment where we were staying with Katie, Bob and Maya I got off at the unmarked stop and could have been stranded but two nice irish gals gave me a lift to where I needed to be. The Irish are soooooo nice.

The groom and his bride

We spent the night and the next day and night with Katie and her family and walked from their apartment rental to the wedding at the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links. It was right on the sea and very beautiful. The ceremony was short and sweet and we crashed that night in the hotel after much dancing and dining. We spent the next night at Chuck’s apartment which was nice as we got to see a slice of his life.  The next day it was back to the Hotel and beach for a beautiful day by the sea, we crashed in Susanna’s room after a nice Italian Dinner with the Chuck’s In-Laws at a seaside restaurant. We spent our last day in Dublin and my poppa sprang for a hotel on our last night which was very nice.

The flight back was relatively smooth, we got detained by security in Dublin because gaelen had a squirt gun in his backpack that Grandma gave him. Ambiana watched the Wizard of Oz 5 times on the plane’s on demand entertainment system and we made it to Boston and grandma’s in time for dinner.
