On the Road at last

Sunday dawned beautiful blue sky and warm. We fed the chickens, packed the car, headed to our storage locker to drop off some final things then headed into Montpelier to buy some food for the trip and have an early pizza supper at Village Pizza.

Ambiana is REALLY looking forward to 6,251 miles in the car over the next 22 days!

Jakobi has a last minute potty break before loading up and heading out.

We headed out at 5:22pm and headed southwest through Vermont an into NY where we hit rain for most of the night. I made two new Big Kid Little Kid CD’s for the trip (alternating kid’s music with songs mommy and daddy like) and we listened to them until the girls fell asleep then I put on my headphones and turned on my MP3 player and began listening to When the Killing’s Done by T. C. Boyle. I drove into Ohio and pulled into a rest stop at 2:20am to sleep in the car till morning. The girls woke up and we had a bathroom break and the rest stop attendant said we could set up a tent so we did, right next to the car as the grass was a swamp. We slept till 7am and then drove an hour into Cleveland and had breakfast at the BIG EGG on Detroit Ave before heading to my cousin’s Kim’s house in Cleveland’s North Olmstead neighborhood where we are spending the next two nights.
